FORMAT: Quadrat

Stofftaschentücher meines Vaters im „richtigen“ Format zu bügeln und zu falten, entpuppte sich für mich ca.6-Jährige zu einer großen Herausforderung.

Während meiner ersten Bügelbemühungen lag immer ein tadellos gefaltetes Taschentuch meines Vaters als Faltanleitung und Größenreferenz neben mir.

Alle gefalteten Quadrate sollten möglichst die gleiche Größe aufweisen.

Das bedeutete diese frisch duftenden Flächen zu Bügeln – nicht genau in der Mitte zu falten; Bügeln – bis knapp zur Mitte falten; Bügeln – weit weg von der Mitte falten; Bügeln – in der Mitte falten; Bügeln….

Selten gelang mir ein tadellos quadratisch gefaltetes Taschentuch.

Ironing and folding my father’s handkerchiefs in the „right“ format turned out to be a great challenge for me at the age of nearly 6.

During my first ironing efforts there was always a perfectly folded handkerchief of my father next to me as a folding instruction and size reference.

All folded squares should have the same size if possible.

This meant folding these freshly smelling surfaces to iron – not folding exactly in the middle; ironing – folding to just about the middle; ironing – folding far away from the middle; ironing – folding in the middle; ironing…

Rarely have I succeeded in folding a perfectly square handkerchief.
